Ann Arbor Art Center launches campaign to fund expansion and new art studios

ANN ARBOUR, Mich. – The Ann Arbor Art Center is making a final push to complete a $5 million expansion and outfit eight art studios.

Having acquired the space right next to its current location at 117 W. Liberty St., the organization has taken steps to expand since 2013 to meet the growing demand for artistic experiences. In 2017, more than 800 people were on waiting lists for art classes and camps, according to the expansion website.

As part of the Art Centre’s capital expansion campaign, ‘The Home Stretch’ new fundraising campaign aims to raise $72,166 by April 15.

The donated funds will be used to fully equip five existing studios and three new ones that will host art classes and camps for youth and adults this summer.

“Together, these two historic buildings in the city center, masterfully designed and carefully renovated, will house state-of-the-art equipment. Equipment that will ensure the safety, comfort and well-being of the more than 60,000 students, artists, staff and art lovers who benefit from A2AC each year,” said Marie Klopf, President and CEO from the Ann Arbor Art Center.
