Beckley Art Center to Host a Spring Recital and Open Mic Night This Weekend

BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) — The Beckley Art Center has announced its upcoming Performing Arts Spring Recital, the first of the new year.

The BAC recently hosted a number of students for private music lessons, and this weekend’s recital will offer these performers the chance to bring their newly acquired skills to the stage.

The recital will be only the second in the history of the Beckley Art Center, and will be the first since the 2020 lockdown led to the postponement and cancellation of public events around the world.

Parents of students, as well as family members, are invited to attend the event to encourage students for the progress they have made on their chosen instruments since enrolling.

The event will take place on Saturday, April 9 at noon and will take place on the ground floor of the Art Lab at the Dan & Cynthia Bickey Art Gallery.

Those planning to attend the recital need not prepare for any type of admission fee, although donations are welcome, and will go towards the further development of the Beckley Art Center’s performing arts program . Light refreshments will be offered during the event.

Later in the evening, BAC will host an Open Mic event, also their first of the year. Artists of different types are invited to participate in the event, including singers, poets, performers, musicians and writers.

Artists interested in showing off their skills are asked to contact Seth at [email protected] by April 8, 2022 to secure a place in the performance lineup.

The Recital and Open Mic Party is planned rain or shine, and will be held at the Beckley Art Center, located at 600 Johnstown Rd, Beckley, WV 25801. More information on these events, as well as on other upcoming events can be found on the BAC website,
