Hundreds + Thousands is a lush sensory performance for humans and plants, created by longtime collaborators Luke George (Melbourne) and Daniel Kok (Singapore).
Combining dance, experimental music and installation – with plants as mediators, interpreters and new companions – Hundreds + Thousands blurs the boundaries between man and the natural world.
Rearrange your collective experience of the visual, the sensual and the sensitive, and glimpse a world where time transforms and humans move.
Following their already iconic reimagining of the AFL Brand of the Year at the RISING Festival (Melbourne, 2022), this intimate dance piece transforms PICA into a plant-filled landscape, brimming with movement, bodily sensations and ecological curiosity in its premiere. Australian.
“Hundreds + Thousands is truly a performance for people and plants. The work is filled with feelings of intimacy, openness, calm and connection, with a touch of humor. Visitors will feel that everything breathes together as they rest in our ‘makeshift’ garden and we invite them to consider both our relationship with plants and the world around us – a world currently in crisis,” said co-creator and performer Daniel Kok.
Bring your favorite plant and think about what plants know about the world around them.
