The Latrobe Art Center will host the 9th Annual Yellow Tie Gala

It’s time to pull your favorite yellow dress out of the closet.

On Friday, August 19, the Latrobe Art Center will host its ninth annual Yellow Tie Gala to kick off the city’s Great American Banana Split Celebration.

The festivities will begin at 6 p.m. Attendees will enjoy hors d’oeuvres prepared by Ricolita’s Café, a banana split bar sponsored by Dairy Queen, and alcoholic beverages, including the event’s signature Banana Split cocktail, which changes every year.

Mike Urick and the Modelaires will provide entertainment.

“Each year, this gala is a fun way to kick off the Banana Split celebration in style,” said Latrobe Art Center Executive Director Michael Tusay.

Held on rue Ligonier, the event is mostly outdoors, but there will be a limited number of seats inside, according to Tusay. If bad weather accompanies the gala, the center will set up tents outside.

Tickets are $50 for art center members and $60 for others. Tusay said the gala is a “significant fundraiser” for the center’s programming and operations.

Participants must confirm their presence before Friday 12 August. Tickets can be purchased online or by calling the center at 724-537-7011.
