The Mendocino Art Center hosts the Plein Air Festival, September 19-25 – The Mendocino Beacon

MENDOCINO, CA — The Mendocino Art Center (MAC) is hosting more than 60 artists for the Mendocino Open Paint Out (MOPO), an outdoor festival, September 19-25.

Established in 2013, the festival includes daily outdoor paints, with wet paint sales of new artwork displayed daily in the Art Center galleries and demonstrations by featured artists. On Saturday, September 24, the festival also includes a contest and quick raffle sale, followed by an awards ceremony, culminating in an After Party, headlined by Mendocino Coast band Mama Grows Funk. An artist exhibition opening event will also be featured, with each participating artist showing a previously created painting, and a featured artist exhibition that will run until October 30. The three featured artists – Ryan Jensen, Carolyn Lord, and Maeve Croghan of the Mendocino Coast – will paint outdoors each day during MOPO, perform daily demonstrations (Tuesday-Thursday, 7:00 p.m., donations requested) and also judge entries. works of art from 60 participating artists in oil, pastel, watercolor, acrylic and mixed media compete for cash and prizes.
