WILLIAMSBURG — The Williamsburg Center for Contemporary Art is hosting a day for kindergarten through first graders Sept. 18 outside the building for kids’ activities. Currently the event is looking for volunteers to help on the day of the event.
Two voluntary areas are needed: for the activity stations and for the assembly/disassembly. There is a morning and afternoon schedule for both teams and the Williamsburg Center for Contemporary Art is asking for six volunteers for each.
Activity station volunteers will be asked to work 2 1/2 hour shifts teaching children arts and crafts and supervising the process. Training will be provided prior to the event. Shifts are 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
For assembly/disassembly, the teams will be in charge of either assembling the tent, tables, chairs and other equipment, or dismantling them. The set-up shift is from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. and the tear-down shift is from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.
For those interested in participating in the event, children must be accompanied by adults.
The Williamsburg Contemporary Art Center also asks attendees not to park at the art center itself or on the residential side as that is where the activities will take place.
Alternative parking is available at the following locations:
- Century 21 Nachman Realty: Corner Richmond Road. and Westover Ave.
- Colonial folk art: Corner of Bacon and Lafayette streets
- Chesapeake Bank: The two lots on rue Lafayette
- Street parking: Bacon and Lafayette streets, and Westover avenue.
